    4. city of Shelbyville Restaurant Tax

  • Please note that this tax is paid by the customer and is not an additional tax for the business owner.

  • The city of Shelbyville requires 3% restaurant tax required on all prepared food and beverages sold within Shelbyville city limits.

  • Pursuant to KRS 139.210 Retailer’s Powers to Collect from Purchaser – Separate Display of Tax, the sales tax is to be separately displayed from local taxes and any other prices displayed on the sales receipt. An update to the point‑of‑sale system is required to separately display the sales tax from any other tax or sales prices on the customer’s receipt.
